Jeff Hamilton Trio - Thursday 9th October 9.00pm - Nairn Community Centre

Jeff has been known worldwide in his own right as a trio leader/orchestra director in partnership with renouned international bassist John Clayton, in past years as part of legendary groups such as Ray Brown Trio and Monty Alexander Trio and also in more recent worldwide spread performances as Diana Krall’s backing drummer.

His vibrant swinging performances bring out the best in all groups and Ken Ramage is delighted to have him back on a Nairn stage to introduce the fabulous award winning young pianist Tamir Hendelman (yet another to add to the collection of pianists for Nairn) and bassist Christoph Luty – known for his big, natural sound, melodic basslines and articulate playing, all to head what is likely to be a busy Autumn/Winter season for Ramage Jazz as they seek to build up plans and funding to the major Homecoming Festival programme for early August 2009.

This concert is hopefully something of a homecoming preview as it is very much hoped that Jeff will be available for the Festival next year ... where he would be encouraged to support the theme and explore further his interest in his possible Scottish roots – something he started on his last visit to Nairn where he gained the inspiration for his 2000 live recording “Hamilton House” which very much drew on the spirit of the bagpipes and original Scottish reel tune.
